Katy North
Katy North is the principal of the dance school. She has been teaching for 15 years and dancing for 27 years. Katy left school at 16 and trained full time in dance and choreography. She then went on to complete her degree, at Bucks New Uni, in Dance Teaching and Development. As well as studying in mainstream education she also took teaching qualifications with the International Dance Teachers Association and has been nominated for the prestigious John Dilworth Scholarship Award. Since qualifying as a dance teacher Katy has trained both amateurs and professionals. Most recently Katy has trained in Wheelchair dancing to make the dance school fully accessible to everyone.
Lia Gray
In 2006 Lia joined L.A Dance Club as a student teacher and was nominated for the John Dilworth Scholarship Award. She has since furthered her qualifications and holds associate degrees in Freestyle and Rock ‘n’ Roll with the International Dance Teachers Association. Lia has an extensive background in Musical Theatre which enabled her to learn multiple styles of dance including Freestyle, Contemporary, Chorus Line, Tap, Ballroom and Jazz. Lia’s classes are engaging and vibrant, encompassing modern dance styles and techniques with choreography for all ages and abilities.
Rebecca Stapleton
Rebecca Stapleton is a Street Dance and Rock and Roll teacher at the Katy North Academy of Dance. Becca trained at the dance school and completed her dance teaching qualifications before she left for university. Whilst she was at university she was part of the UoN Stallions Hip Hop Competition Crew, which competed in competitions nationwide. They ranked second in the largest and most prestigious university competition – Loughborough Dance Comp. Since finishing uni Becca works full time as a primary school teacher and has come back to the dance school to teach.
